Blaby District Council: Fosse Highcross Ward
Ben Taylor was born in Leicester and has lived in Leicestershire most his life, only spending time away when studying at the University of Gloucestershire.
Ben grew up in Wigston Magna and most of his family are still living there.
After University, Ben came back to work in IT consultancy, and in 2013 set up his own business, working with clients across Leicestershire, ranging from manufacturing to financial.
Ben is interested in protecting the environment, ensuring we do not overdevelop and lose our historic villages from excessive housing. He wants to ensure that community spirit thrives, and the Council can play a part in that, from community events to safety nets when times are hard.
In his spare time, Ben has been a trustee of a charity, raising money and awareness for those in need. He supports our armed forces, and recently, Ben was given responsibility for the Armed Forces at Blaby District Council.
During Ben’s eight years as a District Councillor he has been involved in many roles, including that of Youth Champion, Chair of the Planning Committee and in the last few years, Cabinet member for Planning and Enforcement.
Ben lives with his wife Haylie and has been in the District for over a decade. Ben is very enthusiastic and passionate about his role as a Councillor and making sure residents have a voice in local decision making.
